# AI assistant

> Ask the builder's AI assistant to write or change sections, and fix theme errors with one click.

The builder has an AI assistant panel. Describe what you want in plain words and it works on your theme files.

## What it does

* **Writes and changes code.** Ask for a new section, a layout change or a style tweak. It writes files in your theme's runtime (React, Liquid or Vite).
* **Explains.** Ask how a file or setting works.
* **Fix with AI.** When the theme check or the preview reports an error, **Fix with AI** sends the error and the file to the assistant so it can propose a fix.

## Choosing a model

A model picker in the panel lets you choose which AI model answers. Models differ in speed and quality.

## Good to know

* Changes from the assistant are normal edits: review them in Code, and undo them like any other change.
* Nothing goes live until you [publish](https://docs.joinmarkt.com/themes/publish-and-updates.md).
* The assistant cannot change platform files in `src/platform/`.
